Scientific name: red ganoderma (Ganoderma lucidum), purple ganoderma (Ganoderma sinense). Image:
Other names: red ganoderma, red ganoderma, wood ganoderma, fungus ganoderma, Wannian mushroom,
ganoderma grass.
Classification status: Polyporales, Ganodermataceae, Ganoderma genus.
Ecological distribution: Ganoderma is distributed in all continents of the world, most of which grow in tropical,
subtropical and temperate regions. China's Ganoderma fungus resources are widely distributed, and there are
many varieties of Ganoderma, but some varieties are regional.
Ganoderma grows beside or on the roots of felled wood piles of various broad-leaved trees and pine genus,
and in coniferous forests such as iron ganoderma fir. The main production areas of artificial cultivation in China
are Heilongjiang, Mudanjiang, Jiaohe, Jilin, Guanxian, Shandong, Jinzhai, Anhui, Longquan, Zhejiang, Pucheng
(Ganoderma) and Wuping (Purple Ganoderma) in Fujian, Shaoguan, Guangdong, and many other places also
have sporadic cultivation.
Morphological characteristics: Most of the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma lucidum are annual wood-decomposing fungi,
mainly degrading lignin, and a few are perennial. There is a stalk, which is lateral or mesogenous. The cap is woody, corky,
fan-shaped, with grooves, kidney-shaped, semicircular or nearly circular. The surface of Ganoderma lucidum is yellow or
reddish brown, blood red to chestnut, and sometimes the edge gradually turns light yellow brown to yellow white, with a
lacquer-like luster. There are concentric ring grooves on the cap surface, with sharp or slightly blunt edges, often involute.
The flesh is white to light brown, often light brown near the tube, the tube is small, the tube pore surface is light white,
white cinnamon, light brown to light yellow brown, the tube mouth is nearly circular, the stipe is lateral, lateral or mesogenous,
nearly cylindrical, and has a strong luster. The basidiospores are ovate or flat at the top, double-walled, the outer wall is
transparent and smooth, the inner wall is brown or light brown, with small thorns, and an oil droplet in the center, accounting
for more than 50% of the volume.
